This Athens-based, black-owned business gained recognition when the owner began repurposing old jewelry. The brand has evolved into repurposing high quality vintage jewelry and incorporating natural elements such as stones, gold, and beautiful raw cut gems. The style of these earrings ranges from simple gold dainty earrings, to bold colorful necklaces influenced by traditional African patterns and shapes. More can be seen on instagram and etsy shop.



2. Link by Nami

Tsunami creates chunky chain, alternative jewelry right here on UGA’s campus. This black-owned business has gained more of a following from the Punk Platform Crocs that the owner started promoting on TikTok. The artist uses charms, stones, chains and much more to design earrings, necklaces, bracelets, nose rings. There’s something for everyone, which can be seen at the website and Instagram.



3. Happily Dressed

Based out of Atlanta, Brandon has been working on his brand Happily Dressed pursuing sustainably made clothes and sharing a message of positivity. So far, the business owner has cultivated a popular YouTube channel, hosted a Zoom workshop about sewing basics, and created countless unique pieces from thrifted fabric and upcycled materials. This creative emphasizes the message of self acceptance, self confidence and self sufficiency through the process of sewing, inspiring others, and collaborating. 4. Capricorn Killjoy

These handmade earrings are so incredible, and personable. This Atlanta-based independent company creates dangly earrings spelled out on colorful letters, and say anything you choose. 5. Elevate Thrifts

Elevate Thrifts offers to buy and sell vintage clothing, shoes, streetwear, and name brand labels. This brand has made an impact on UGA’s campus and far beyond with a cultivated instagram page and a network of consignment for anyone, which they just keep 8% of the profit. There are frequent pop-ups in Atlanta and Athens where the archived pieces are sold.
